If curiosity killed the cat, what would it do to the Dragon?
NAME:
NAME:
Meko
GENDER:
Female.
SPECIES:
Dragon-Changewing.
APPERANCE
Meko has an appearance fitting to most of her Changewing kind. She has a long, serpentine body that is rather low down to the ground. Most of her body length is made up by her long, snake like neck and whip like tail. She has six libs in total. Four short, stocky legs with excessively large paws that's bases are fitted with thin, adhesive scales. Upon each foot are four toes, each decked with long, curved, grasping claws. Used more for holding onto things than fighting. The other two limbs are two long arms positioned just above her forelimbs. The arms are slender and hollow with two clawed fingers. Attached to these arms are elongated wing membranes attaching form the fingers, down along the arm and across the body. The membranes are held taught by thin quills that give them a "Bat." Like effect.
Her head his thin with a long, pointed snout and large eyes. The most prominent features to her head are the two long, thin antenna protruding from her head, just behind her large eyes. The antenna are extremely long, reaching from the head to the rear legs in length. Both the antenna are aligned either side with short, feathered quills adapted with sensors. These also help break up her outline when hiding. In addition to her antenna. Meko has a shark fin shaped crest that sweeps back from under her eye, pointing back. This crest helps make the outlines of her head less noticeable than that of other dragons. The crest also helps provide protection for her throat and acid glands. Meko also has a horn upon her nose that at first has a rhino like shape, although then curves back around in a wisp like shape. This horn is used more for display than attack.
Meko has a series of uneven line of horns across her spine, spreading from the back of her neck, reaching all the way down her back to the tip of her elongated tail. She also has a set of horns around the elbows of her forelimbs.
It is hard to tell exactly what color Meko is. under her soft scales there are bacterial filled glands that produce different color pigments. Allowing her to change the color of her scales like a chameleon. Usually she is seen with golden yellow scales covering across her slender body. This color is also relevant to her wings that are only perhaps a few shades lighter. Her lower jaw, running down her underbelly to half way down her long tail, Meko has a layer of slightly larger stomach plates. These plate like scales are firmer than her other scales to protect her organs. These scales in there primary color are often cream in coloration. The horn upon Meko's nose and her claws all share the same, deep purple color. And the horns across her back and elbows are a orange like red. In her "Default" colors, Meko has a series of curiously orange like purple rings down the length of her neck and her tail. And around her eyes is a dark, "Cat eye" like pattern of a purple shade. Although these colors are never set. By irritating the bacteria under her scales she can make them change there pigments and thus changing the color of her scales to a wide assortment of colors and patterns.
Finally, Meko is not the largest of dragons. Being still just an infant she is rather small. She is four foot and a half long with a wingspan of just under four foot. She is surprisingly light in weight, and despite her length she is able to sit on the shoulders of a Human if she so wished.
PERSONALITY
Meko is a very, very curious little Changewing. She often wonders as to what others are doing, what things are. Anything and everything there is to be curious about, Meko is bound to have thought about it. Meko has no real understanding of personal boundaries, and with her being a reasonably affectionate Dragon, she can sometimes invade the space of others a little to much. Although she is scared of loud noises, she is not apposed to making them herself. Quite often she is excessively noisy. Thus causing her at the best of times to be rather irritating, but at the same time her irritating way of being is endearing. Unstable on her feet, mostly because she is to busy being interested in something to watch where she is going. Meko is rather clumsy. Always falling over herself she tends to get embarrassed by her own lack of ability to watch where she is going. And is still to naive to learn form her mistakes.
Meko is very fond of the heat, she loves nothing better then sprawling out on a nice hot rock or cuddling into the warmest thing she can find. Her most favorite thing in the world is furry things. Especially cats. She loves there smell, sound, feeling and even taste. More than happy to try and keep any cat she comes across. When she is not being lazy or kidnapping cats. Meko is always stalking something. Having a naturally playful attitude, life is always an adventure to this little Dragon. Everything could be anything and she feels the impulsive need to discover what something is if it catches her attention. Because of this she spends allot of time trying to catch butterflies, mice, reflections and other such, curiosity inspiring things to a young Dragon. This often gets her into trouble.
More then she would like to admit, Meko has stumbled into trouble. No matter if it is by following something into a hole she is to big to get through, causing her to get stuck. Or if it is her getting on the bad side of another Dragon.
[li] A burning curiosity leading her to be rather brave.
[/li][li] Outstanding loyalty and intent to protect those close to her.
[/li][li] Gentle Kindness and willingness to show affection.
[/li][li] Meko can often find a way to lighten the mood in most situations, no matter if it is willingly or not.
NEGATIVE TRAITS:
[/li][li] Over curiosity at times that can block her senses form danger.

[/li][li] Honeycomb, Sweet to the taste.
[/li][li] Soft things. Meko likes the feeling of something soft against her scales. Because of this she is also very fond of cats.
[/li][li] Chasing things. Meko can often be seen running after things, no matter if its a butterfly or just a reflection of light.
[/li][li] Hunting. Meko rather likes to stalk for her prey. Finding the thrill of the hunt a most wonderful game.
[/li][li] Cuddling up in a nice, warm spot.
[/li][li] Playing. Meko has a very immature way of acting. So naturally she dose love to play.

[/li][li] Starving to death.
[/li][li] Imprisonment or otherwise becoming trapped.
[/li][li] Heights. Although Meko is alright with heights of around fifteen to twenty foot, anything higher and she starts to get scared. Because of this, Meko rarely likes to fly. So if she ever dose fly, she keeps herself close to the ground.[/li][/ul]

ORIGINS
The sun burned down against the rocky surface of the Dragons Birth Island. All around where the sounds of fresh, young hatchlings and there attentive parents calling out across the island. Off to the side on a rocky ledge was a female Changewing. Her long antenna flicking behind her head as she proudly raised her wings as her hatchlings played around her large feet. Each already learning there natural skin of chameleonizing to there surrounding environment. Using the skill to play a game of hide and go seek with each other. The Mother was so proud of her active brewed. Although there was still one egg in her nest. She moved her large jaws down to the small egg and gently brushed her snout against it, making her throat vibrate to signal a call to the unborn hatchling to see if it would respond.
Nothing.... Not a sound. The Mother looked a little sad at the unhatched egg, coming to the conclusion that the infant inside had perished. And so she turned back to her playful hatchlings to attend to there needs. The playful hatchlings where very boisterous, taking no real notice of the surroundings around them. And in there excitement one knocked the unhatched egg form the ledge. The egg slid down a muddy slope and into the nest of a Gronckle, A Gronckle that was snapping up her eggs in her massive maw to take them back to Berk and her Viking rider.
As the Gronckle traveled with its buzzing wings she was unaware of the strangers egg along side her brewed. It was not until she was flying over Toothless' Forest that she heard a chirping form inside her mouth. But knowingly she recognized that it was not one of her own offspring. She moved down and landed in the depths of the forest to settle the eggs in her mouth onto a bed of moss to inspect the cause of the sound. Letting the eggs fall form her mouth softly onto the moss she noticed an egg not of her own. Feeling it could be a threat to her own hatchlings she nudged it away and picked up her own eggs before continuing to the village. Leaving the egg abandoned.
An hour passed and finally a little crack formed in the shell of the egg, followed by a little foot breaking out. Meko, the young Changewing inside the egg was finally hatching. Although she was far away form the Birth Island and her family. Never the less the little baby Changewing was ever so inquisitive as she found her feet and padded around the ground in a slow amble as she explored her new environment. Taking in her first breaths she could smell the rich smells of the earth and trees around her. It was all so strange, so new. She had so much to learn, not just to understand more. But simply to be able to survive outside the relative safety of her egg.
As she curiously padded and tripped around she came to discover a strange lizard. Meko watched it for a short while as it walked across the grassy ground. Meko stared in curiosity at how the little lizard moved. Imitating its footsteps with her own. Her hips swaying from side to side with her head moving in a similar way. Almost making her body form into a slithering "S" shape as she walked. After a while her stomach started to growl with hunger. She needed food to eat. But alas with no real concept of what food was. The hatchling did not know what to eat, or how to hunt it. Nightfall came and she had to rest. Learning how to walk had taken a tole on the hatchling. Meko sighted a hole in a near by tree, it was not to far up and a lure filled her. Something telling her it might be safer to sleep there than on the ground. And so she scrambled to clime up into the hole. Falling a few times before finally managing to get there and curl up for the night. Her skin shifted form orange to a brown color that mimicked that of the bark. Not that she knew that she could do this. The little Dragon was already fast asleep.
Eventually she woke and smelt the scent of cooking meat form a distance, the smell carried through the air. Interested by the smell that was making her maw water, Meko licked her mouth and followed her nose. She walked for a good two miles, the smell getting stronger and stronger as she did. Although every now and then she had to stop to rest her little feet. Although finally she came across the Viking Village after quite some time of traveling. She was quite far away form where where she had hatched. Her exploring and following that lizard had taken her some distance away. And then the scent of food took her even further. For a little hatchling it was a very long way... She was tired now. Her body was not used to such strain. But her stomach said otherwise.
The Village was so different form the forest. New smells and sounds. It interested the hatchling. The smell was coming form a near by building. Following her nose she hesitantly approached the building. Only to jump back against the ground when the door came slamming open and a large Viking came out making noise with his mouth. Meko had never seen a human before and was not sure what to make of it. The loud noise had scared her. Her body flat to the ground and taking on the same colors as the environment to keep her hidden. Once he had gone she sniffed the air and slipped her small body in through the open door and into the warmth of the house. There was a large metal plate on the table with a freshly cooked chicken. Meko's mouth watered with hunger as she moved stealthily closer. A young teenage Viking was ripping meat form a chicken leg with his teeth. Meko imitated his mouth movements a little before noticing she was missing the meat. The boys Mother had started talking to him as she prepared more food, causing the boy to look away.
Meko moved up onto the table and picked up the hot chicken in her mouth. Taking it off the table and onto the floor where she started to chew at the meat, "Hey!" A voice called out form behind her as the teenager had turned around to see her with the chicken on the floor. In shock at the sudden sound and feeling threatened Meko picked up her pilfered chicken and ran form the Viking house and back into the wood.
This is how Meko lived for a number of years. Taking food and learning how to do new things by watching the creatures around her and imitating there movements. But she was starting to get to big to sneak into houses as easily. Yes she could hide her body well enough, but she was far easier to trip over now. Especially in smaller homes. Another downside where the Dragons of Berk. They did get rather territorial of there homes, and having a little invader coming in and stealing food irritated them... Not that it was not justified. But still... Meko needed to eat to.
The irritating thing is that, even though she did not intend to be as such. She was becoming a pest. And that meant she was putting herself in danger. Never one to really want to start a conflict, Meko learned it best to avoid the Village and started to venture back out into the Forest. In a way it was like returning home. She was able to quite happily learn how to stalk and kill her prey. Using her natural camouflage to hide and sneak up on unsuspecting victims. Although due to her being her.... There was more than a few times she was to lazy to bother hunting. And so invaded homes again.
As time progressed Meko had started to notice how just about every other Dragon she saw had a Human companion. And she started to wonder why she did not have a Viking to. Meko would watch form the hidden confides of safety as the other Dragons interacted with the Vikings. Mimicking them when they had gone as if training her own tameness. But some how when ever she found a Viking she liked, they had a Dragon of there own. And other Dragons where never keen on her trying to muzzle in to there special bond. It left Meko feeling.... Alone. She was so lonely being by herself in the Forest. She wanted to have someone with her. To sooth her of this aching loneliness.
One day while Meko was scouting around the Village she came across the most unusual of animals. A cat. She was ever so interested in the little creature. The way it smelt, the way it walked. It seemed not to be scared of her, having lived in the Village she knew of Dragons. So did not run form the curious Changewing. Meko started to follow the cat. Copying its movements with her own. Her scales even took on the cats colors and patterns. Her scales even trying to mimic the textures of the fur. Eventually she caught up with the feline and pressed her snout against the cat. And that is when she fell in love with the feeling of fur. It was so soft, the way the hairs brushed against her soft scales. She ended up curled beside the beautiful tabby cat for a few hours. The cat did not seem to keen on it, it kept trying to wriggle free form her grasp. But Meko did not want the cat to leave. She liked it, it was so soft and warmed. But alas the cat managed to slip away as the young Changewing as she slept. Plunging her once again into a sad loneliness.
Meko came to the decision that she needed to find herself a Viking. Someone so she would not be alone. She was not sure if this was because of her compulsive need to copy what she saw, but she felt the need to have a Viking. It was a strange feeling... But after seeing Vikings and Dragons co-existing through out her lifetime, it seemed right.
The young, curious Changewing is now only five years of age. And still rather small and child like. In search for a companion she tends to follow strangers like a lost lamb.
EXTRAS
Being a Changewing with naturally soft scales to allow her to change her color, Meko prefers to avoid conflict if possible. Preferring to hide with her amazing chameleon like talent.
[li]Acid spray. Unable to breathe fire, Meko instead is able to spit a stream of thick green acid form her mouth that propels like a water jet. She tends not to use this ability and usually only uses it in self defense. The acid is not all that strong and is mostly an irritant. Although it can cause a fair bit of damage if it gets in the eyes. It also has a rather nasty smell. She has a Shot Limit of Ten.
[/li][li] Color changing. Meko has a natural ability to change the color of her body. By manipulating the pigments of the bacteria inside glands under the skin, she can temporarily shift the color of her skin. This provides great camouflage for the avid huntress, although the effect fades when concentration is lost or she is spooked.
[/li][li] Hypnotism, Meko has a way of being able to use a hypnotizing stare to entrance attackers temporarily to give her enough time to find a nice, secure place to hide. This dose not effect free will of other characters and the effects of the Hypnotism are completely up to the owner of the character.
[/li][li] Adhesive pads, Upon her feet Meko has adhesive pads that allow her to walk up walls and other steep surfaces. This also allows her to run over ceilings, but not for long as her weight causes her to fall and she needs to float down. These pads are made up of small, fine, sticky scales that contort to attach to the surface by trapping the air between the scales. Using them like suction cups to stick to things. This is also why her feet feel sticky.[/li][/ul]

RP SAMPLE
RP SAMPLE
The light glistened down through the canopy of Toothless' Forest like amber and emerald beams of fire, cascading down onto a small, circular clearing where there was a strange looking patch of grass. Grass with wings.... Meko, the little Changewing was sprawled out upon the grass in the clearing. Enjoying the warmth of the sun against her scaled belly as she rested on her back. Or rather on as much of her back as she could with out getting the row of horns on her back stuck into the ground. At first glance it would appear she was not there. Her soft scales almost a perfect match to the grass in color. Even so much as they took on the texture of the grass around her. Her horns, claws and antenna showing a slightly darker green then the more earth green of her body. Meko was in a rather lazy mood, her long forked tongue hanging out of her mouth as one of her large paws rested over her torso. She always did like the feeling of the sun against her stomach. Warming the scales there enough to help with the ability for her scales to change color on the slightly thicker stomach plates that protected her organs.
She was more than content laying there in the heat of the sun. But alas, the stomach she was bathing started to growl with hunger. Meko let out grumble like sound and reluctantly rolled onto her feet. Her green color of the grass fading away to her natural color. Her bright orange scales a vast contrast to the mimicked green of the grass. There golden shine broken up by the more red colored stripe like patterns across her neck and tail, along side the creamy white plates across her lower jaw and stomach. Meko stretched out her long neck as she lifted her rear into the air. Her large, paw like front feet padding at the ground as she dragged her purple claws through the dirt. Enjoying the sensation of the stretch she even spread out her wings, letting the yellow membranes flutter carelessly in the light breeze for a moment before they flicked out and showed there bat like glory.
Meko finished her stretch by sitting on her hind legs and opening up her thin jaws, her white sharp teeth on display as she yawned out almost cutely with a small squeak like sound before she lifted a foot to pad at the curved triangular crests under her eyes, Rubbing them with the back of her paw as her antenna twitched a little. It was always nice to wake up with a good stretch after a good sleep.
Although she had no time to wake herself up properly as something caught her eye. Something brown, hopping through the undergrowth of the forest. Meko lowered herself to the ground and started to follow it. "Ribbit." The little hopping toad made a sound, it's throat swelling up as it did. Meko blinked her eyes a little, making her own throat swell as much as she could get it to. "Ribbit." She copied the toads sound before watching it bounce away. She tensed her back legs and bounced after it. "Ribbit, ribbit." She happily copied the sound she had heard as she followed the toad. Bouncing about it more of an excited zig-zag like movement. She was rather happy copying the toad, but before she knew it she misplaced a bounce and her long claws got caught on a fallen branch, causing her to fall flat onto her face with a loud squeak of shock. The muddy ground under her gave way, causing the little Changewing to tumble down a slope and into a muddle of mud.
Meko grunted and hissed in shock from the sudden stumble. Wincing in pain with each roll of the fall before she landed in the mud. Her body turning brown, not just from being covered in mud, but form her scales changing color once again. Although the moment she shook herself off she changed back. Having the shock been the cause of the change. The little dragon pulled herself form the mud, hissing and growling at herself as she hunched her neck so her feet could cover her eyes as if to hide herself in embarrassment. Her tail curling over herself and hanging before her. Between her claws she caught a glimpse of a handful of leaves impaled on the red spikes that traced down her spine. She huffed out a breath of hot air then started trying to fruitlessly shake the leaves off. Great... Another day with leaves stuck to me... She thought irritably to herself. Hitting her tail against the ground a few more times in a last minute attempt to rid herself of the leaves before she shook her head. I guess I'd better just go find something to eat... She finally decided. Setting off on her way to the Viking Village to pilfer some food. Wondering where the toad vanished to.
